1969年、兵庫県神戸市生まれ。
大阪写真専門学校（現・ビジュアルアーツ）を卒業後、プロダクションやスタジオに勤務しさまざまなジャンルの撮影経験を積む。
フリーランスフォトグラファーとして独立後は、広告・エディトリアル媒体を中心に活動。
1995年、阪神淡路大震災発生後、フォトグラファーの活動を休止して神戸市の復興事業に従事。1998年に活動再開する。
ライフワークとして取り組んできた風景写真シリーズ「日本海」は高い評価を得て、大阪・神戸をはじめとする関西各地で展示。
ロサンゼルス滞在中には、ハリウッドの広告やミュージックビデオの制作現場に関わり、技術と表現力の幅をさらに広げる。
2004年に東京・渋谷区桜丘町に自身のスタジオ「IWASE STUDIO」を設立し、2008年に千駄ヶ谷へ移転。
2015年に一時新潟県へ移住し地域風土に根ざした活動を行いながら、日本海シリーズの撮影を続ける。
2018年からはAmazon（大阪・堺スタジオおよび東京・品川シーサイドスタジオ）にてフルタイムフォトラファーとして勤務し、
サイトに掲載する商品イメージや360VR、動画制作・編集を手がける。
2024年より再び拠点を新潟に移し、地元企業との連携を軸に、全国からの依頼に応じて幅広く活動している。
Born in Kobe, Japan in 1969. After graduating from Osaka College of Photography (Visual Arts) in 1990, I began my career working at various production companies and studios, gaining experience across a wide range of photography genres.
My personal landscape series The Sea of Japan has been well received and exhibited in multiple locations across the Kansai region, including Osaka and Kobe. During a stay in Los Angeles, I was involved in commercial and music video productions in Hollywood, which deepened both my technical and expressive capabilities.
In 1994, I became a freelance photographer. Following the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in 1995, I was temporarily involved in reconstruction-related projects in Kobe. I resumed my photography work in 1998.
In 2004, I founded my own studio, IWASE STUDIO, in Sakuragaoka, Shibuya, and later relocated it to Sendagaya in 2008. After moving to Niigata in 2015, I continued my photography while embracing the local landscape and lifestyle.
From 2018, I worked as a full-time photographer at Amazon (Osaka Sakai Photo Studio, Tokyo Shinagawa Seaside Fashion Photo Studio), handling product photography, 360VR, video production, and editing.
In 2024, I relocated my base back to Niigata, where I now work with local companies while continuing to take on photography projects from across Japan.
